Ian has 33 years policing experience working in Lancashire and Merseyside, the last 2 of which as the Deputy Chief Constable. He was the National Policing Lead for Child Protection for 3 years including chairing the National Pursue Online Board and providing strategic leadership for the National CSE taskforce. He has given evidence to Select Committees, ICSA and a number of parliamentary Inquiries in relation to Child Protection and Safeguarding. Following retirement as a serving officer, he worked with the College of Policing and Home Office in implementing as SRO the National Centre for VAWG & Public Protection. He is currently leading a project to tackle High Harm Perpetrators of VAWG. Ian sits as a member of the National Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel and chairs Police Misconduct Hearings.
