Jason grew up in Hartlepool and studied Theology at Christ Church, Oxford, where volunteering at a homeless charity first brought him into contact with Thames Valley Police and inspired his policing career. He joined Cleveland Police in 1995 before moving to Hampshire, where he investigated serious crime, worked in Special Branch and Public Protection, and contributed to national detective development. After a secondment to Iraq, he joined Thames Valley Police in 2016, becoming Deputy Chief Constable in 2019 and Chief Constable in 2023. Nationally, he leads major NPCC portfolios. He is married to Jane with two sons and enjoys outdoor activities.
